All three Cardinals specialists who entered unrestricted free agency have re-signed with the team.
Punter Dave Zastudil was the last of the trio to come to terms, agreeing to a two-year deal, the team announced on Wednesday. Financial terms were not released.
Zastudil joins kicker Jay Feely (two-year contract) and long snapper Mike Leach (three-year deal) in returning to the Cardinals.
Zastudil joined the Cardinals last season, taking over for Ben Graham. Zastudil finished with a 45.2-yard gross average and a 37.5-yard net average. He missed one game with a knee ailment and played through a torn biceps tendon late in the season.

The Arizona Cardinals have made it a theme this offseason to try and target under-the-radar players who may not grab the national headlines, even though they could even up paying dividend greatly for seasons to come. There are not a ton of areas this team needs to improve upon, but the secondary is one of the exceptions. Who did the Cardinals most recently target as a potential free agent?
According to this report from Scout.com, safety James Sanders visited Arizona on Tuesday.
Sanders, 28, played for the Atlanta Falcons last season after breaking into the league with the New England Patriots. While not a star by any means, he has posted respectable numbers throughout his career and has done a nice job avoiding injuries up until this point.
No news came of any potential offers to the free agent safety, although it appears there is mutual interest for both sides.
Our great Cardinals blog, Revenge Of The Birds, discussed what Sanders would mean to the team:
The Cardinals are obviously looking for a little bit more depth at safety. Currently they have starters Adrian Wilson and Kerry Rhodes under contract and Rashad Johnson has been extended his restricted free agent tender. Sean Considine, who played part of 2011 in Arizona has since signed with the Baltimore Ravens and Hamza Abdullah has not yet been re-signed.
If Sanders is signed, that does not necessarily mean the departure of Abdullah, who is an outstanding special teams player. Sanders has played very little on special teams.

That’s all for today.

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Arizona Cardinals have agreed to terms on a three-year contract for long snapper Mike Leach and a two-year deal for linebacker Reggie Walker.
Leach has played in all 48 games over the last three seasons with Arizona. A 13-year NFL veteran, he played the previous seven seasons with the Denver Broncos. Leach has played 152 consecutive games, the longest streak on the team and third-longest active string for all long snappers.
Walker played in all 16 games for Arizona last season and was second on the team with a career-high 16 special teams tackles. He has played three seasons for the Cardinals after joining the team as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2009.
Gotta run!.

The Arizona Cardinals are dealing with free agency and a million other moving pieces while trying to solidify their team for next year. In addition to their stake in the Peyton Manning sweepstakes, there’s also the 2012 NFL Draft approaching and, of course, the payroll to worry about. On Friday, the team made a roster move that largely flew under the radar.
Jason La Canfora reported that the Cardinals released wide receiver Chansi Stuckey on Friday. It appears the move was largely made to avoid a salary cap issue. Had the Cardinals retained Stuckey, he would have been owed $1.75 million for 2012, which would have resulted in a $2.275 million cap hit. 2011 was Stuckey’s only season with the Redbirds.
In five NFL seasons, Stuckey has 106 receptions for 1,062 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

Arizona Cardinals update:
The Cardinals appear close to re-signing left tackle Levi Brown, a starter for most of his five seasons with the club, according to an NFL source.
Brown became a free agent earlier this week when the team released him before he was due a steep pay hike. Brown’s salary cap figure was due to increase to $16.9 million, and will be considerably less under his new contract.

PHOENIX – Offensive guard Jake Scott has made the Arizona Cardinals the first team to visit as a free agent.
Scott met with Cardinals officials and coaches on Wednesday as the team waits for Peyton Manning to decide his destination.
Scott, if he signed with Arizona, would replace Rex Hadnot at right guard, with Hadnot becoming a backup at several offensive line positions.
Scott, 6-foot-5 and 292 pounds, was a teammate of Manning’s on Indianapolis’ Super Bowl championship team in the 2006 season. He started the past four seasons for the Tennessee Titans.
Scott was one of three offensive linemen to visit the Cardinals on Wednesday. One of them, Adam Snyder, later reached an agreement on a five-year contract with Arizona.
Snyder, 6-6 and 325 pounds, started 69 games and appeared in 107 over the past seven seasons for the San Francisco 49ers. He started 13 games for the NFC West champions last season.
The third to visit was the 6-foot-5, 311-pound tackle Demetrius Bell, who started 30 games for the Buffalo Bills over the past three seasons. He started all 16 games for Buffalo in 2010 but was limited to seven games in 2011 because of knee and ankle injuries.
Tackle is the obvious biggest need for Arizona after the Cardinals released Levi Brown, the starter on the left side, in a salary cap move. Last season’s starting right tackle, Brandon Keith, is a free agent.
Scott’s agent, Ken Staninger, said the Cardinals “called right out of the gate” about his client.
“He’s a good fit for what they’re reportedly looking for,” Staninger said.
The agent said that Scott’s history with Manning was “somewhat of a factor.”
The Cardinals are in something of a holding pattern as they wait for Manning to make his decision. The superstar quarterback was visiting the Tennessee Titans on Wednesday.
Manning spent nearly 6 1/2 hours at the Cardinals’ facility on Sunday. The team is hoping the presence of standout receiver Larry Fitzgerald and the quarterback’s friendship with coach Ken Whisenhunt, among other factors, will lure Manning to the desert. The team has a state-of-the-art stadium with a retractable roof and natural grass field as well as warm winter weather.
But a concern could be the offensive line, which was inconsistent in its performances last season. Arizona did go 7-2 after a 1-6 start to wind up 8-8 for the season, thanks in large part to a vastly improved defence.
Manning also visited the Denver Broncos and spent time with the Miami Dolphins’ representatives in a meeting in Indianapolis.
The Cardinals need a decision by Manning this week because the team will have to pay quarterback Kevin Kolb $7 million if he is on the roster on Saturday. Arizona released Brown, the fifth overall pick in the 2007 draft, because his contract would have counted nearly $17 million on the team’s salary cap for the coming season.
That’s all for today guys, i’ll be back to blog you tomorrow.

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) The Arizona Cardinals have released starting left tackle Levi Brown in a salary cap move.
Brown, who started 75 games in five seasons with Arizona, has a contract that would have counted nearly $17 million against the team’s cap for the coming season. The move was expected regardless of whether the Cardinals are able to lure quarterback Peyton Manning. However, with Brandon Keith a free agent, the team is without both of its starting tackles from last year.
Arizona made Brown the fifth overall player taken in the 2007, selecting the Penn State lineman ahead of running back Adrian Peterson.
The Cardinals could be willing to bring Brown back with a new, smaller contract.
What do you guys think about this.

GLENDALE, Ariz — The Arizona Cardinals are reportedly interested in going after free agent Peyton Manning to join the team, and many fans are all for it.
At Arizona Sports 620 radio Wednesday afternoon, hosts Doug and Wolf wondered how to woo the quarterback. How can the Cardinals stand out from the Miami Dolphins or the New York Jets?
One fan had a good idea. A billboard advertising mattresses over Interstate 10 asked Manning to lay his head in in the Valley.
Several teams are dying to know what’s going on in Manning’s mind, but in Miami Wednesday he played coy.
“I haven’t thought about teams, I don’t know who’s interested … I really don’t,” Manning said. “This is all new to me.”
Some Cardinals fans hope the organization is putting its best foot forward.
“It would definitely help the Cardinals … help them sell out games and everything like that,” Nick Vaerewyck said.
Most are feeling that any chance at Manning is worth a shot.
“At the end of the day, I think he brings so much to the table,” Ralph Marchetta said. “Not only in terms of experience and skill but leadership. He could be a great fit for the organization and for the team. I think it’s exciting.”

Today the Indianapolis Colts finally ended a season’s worth of speculation and released Peyton Manning, the quintessential franchise quarterback. While the Colts will most certainly move on swiftly by drafting a quarterback with their first pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Manning is now left with deciding his own future.
Assuming he doesn’t want to retire, he now will have full control over where he plays in 2012. For the sake of this discussion, let’s also assume that Manning will be ready to play once signed. He is supposedly recovering his arm strength and looks to be getting ready to audition for a new team.
There are certain things that I think Peyton is going to want in his next team. First and foremost is a team that is ready to win and make the playoffs. In that regard, what we need is a team that has recently had some success, or is poised for a breakthrough with the right quarterback. Secondly, I think he would like to play in the best weather conditions possible. I can’t see him playing most of his games in a season in the frigid confines of the outdoor stadiums of the AFC East or the NFC East. A team with a dome or at least great weather year-round would preserve his body and neck better.
He also needs a coach that is good with veterans. Someone who won’t be insecure with having someone the stature of Manning on his team. Good management and ownership also go along with that. Having some leadership with great character already present on the team is also helpful.
I think the Arizona Cardinals provide him with that in spades. Their recent success a few years ago with Kurt Warner shows that this is a team that does know how to win with the right pieces. Their current quarterback, Kevin Kolb, was thought to be the next great qb in Arizona, but he has yet to justify the big contract that they gave him to lure him away from Philadelphia in 2011. Management obviously can get along with a star quarterback (Warner), and Coach Whisenhunt is solid. They make sure to limit the drama on and off the field as much as possible.
Larry Fitzgerald is in the prime of his career, and he is that marquee receiver that Peyton has been missing since Marvin Harrison retired. Many think that Colts’s long-time receiver Reggie Wayne, also a free agent, will sign with whatever team Manning does. Todd Heap is an excellent receiving tight end, and the Cardinals’ running game has Beanie Wells and LaRod Stephens-Howling. With these weapons, Manning can pick up right where he left off in 2010, at least offensively.
Peyton would be out of the spotlight a bit in Arizona, and he’d play all his home games in warm conditions. The NFC West is still one of the weakest divisions in the NFL. He’d also have a lot of high character guys on his team like Larry Fitzgerald. I think all those reason are excellent selling points to a guy like Manning. Besides, do you really think he’d be happy in Miami with a star receiver who is not only petulant but a dropper?
Julie is a Featured Contributor for the NFL and has followed the game her entire life. She lives in Denver (no, Manning isn’t coming here), but her heart lies with the Chicago Bears.

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) The Arizona Cardinals have placed a non-exclusive franchise tag on defensive end Calais Campbell.
The Cardinals can continue to negotiate a long-term deal with the 6-foot-8 player through July 16. If another team signs him to an offer sheet, Arizona has the right to match it or receive two first-round draft picks as compensation.
The deadline for using a franchise tag is Monday, and Cardinals general manager Rod Graves says Friday’s move gives the team the chance to continue to work toward a deal that would keep Campbell with the Cardinals ”for years to come.”
